Huddle Beats Box To FedRAMP Certification

(FORBES) – March 26, 2015: One of Box‘s biggest competitors Huddle is making news today by beating Box to the all important FedRAMP federal certification – this is a big deal for a company that has executed well, but hasn’t gained the attention of its better known competitor Box… FedRAMP (which stands for Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) is a US government-wide program that aims to accelerate the adoption of secure cloud services. FedRAMP provides a uniform approach to security assessments and authorizations so that federal agencies can make an apples-for-apples comparison between vendors. Technically Huddle has achieved the Authority to Operate (ATO) status which means that it can offer its file sharing platform across federal agencies.

Huddle even managed to get a serious endorsement from the FedRAMP director at the US General Services Administration. Matt Goodrich pointed out the importance of FedRAMP generally, and Huddle’s certification in particular saying that:

For all cloud service providers, it’s critical to demonstrate adherence to FedRAMP’s set of baseline security controls and consistent processes to provide services to the Federal government. Gaining a FedRAMP authorization through USAID demonstrates that Huddle’s cloud collaboration service meets the rigorous requirements of FedRAMP.”
